OurDNA Equity Advisor
Sam is the OurDNA Equity Advisor, providing strategic leadership in implementing equity principles across the OurDNA program and CPG. She works closely with the OurDNA Community Engagement & Partnerships Manager and Program Lead to embed community voice in decision-making, ensure participatory approaches are shaped by community needs and values, and prioritise accountability and shared benefit in OurDNA's activities.
Sam brings expertise in health social research across mental health, dementia, sexual health, neuroscience, and genomics, with over six years of experience in equitable medical research with multicultural communities. She holds a PhD in Medical Anthropology and Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS) from the University of Melbourne, where her research focused on understanding how scientific knowledge is produced. This informs her approach to equitable genomics research. Sam finds grappling with the challenging questions at the intersection of science and society to be the most exciting part of her work.
